History
Parts of Trethevy Farmhouse date from the 16th Century, but little is known about the early history of the building. At one end of the building, in thick granite walls, there are two massive Cornsih cloam (or clome) ovens. The sheer scale of these ovens, both largeenough for an adult to climb into, dwarfs the more traditional cloam ovens found in many fireplaces, but the purpose and age of these ovens remains something of a mystery.
Cloam Ovens: Dimensions
Small oven - depth 36 inches, height 28 inches, width 36 inches
Large oven - depth 60 inches, height 38 inches, width 60 inches.
There is also a small inglenook oven.
